August breakwater

I’m a little late for the start of boat painting season but better late than never. I’ve painted this view of the Pointe Claire Yacht Club countless times but it never gets old. I have my spot under a tree, in a beautiful park, in the good company of picnickers, dog walkers, cyclists and the odd pedestrian who looks over my shoulder for a time. On a warm summer day, I can think of no better place to paint.

I did have my plein air easel with me but ended up painting this quarter sheet on my lap because a lever was missing from my tripod, making it impossible to attach the tray that holds my paper. But it didn’t matter. There was nothing that was going to stop me from painting my favourite summer scene. Painted on a quarter sheet of Arches Rough paper, 140 lb.
