In the shadow of the steeple
Posted: July 3, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 20 CommentsThe location of my workshop in Barcelona is the beautiful Santa Ana church, a hidden gem in the middle of the city. With that in mind I thought I’d better move away from the maritime scenes and get my mind into architecture. I sketched this on St. Joachim Ave. in Pointe Claire. I’ve sketched this church many times but can only draw this viewpoint in the summer when I can sit outside because there’s no parking on the street.

This is a beauty. Love that shutter on the house at the left and how you have let the steeple go right on off the page. It helps to connect all four edges. Lovely.
Thanks Lee. It was one of those nice painting experiences. I was sitting in front of a house that was undergoing renovations. The carpenter was playing the most beautiful music and except for the occasional whir of his saw, I had accompaniment the whole time.
Love the trees ! Simple shapes! Well done! Sorry I missed you at the store, I only work on Tuesday’s!
Thanks Angie! I will try to come in on a Tuesday next time. I happened to be in the neighbourhood meeting friends so I stopped in to see your beautiful displays.
My childhood friend married there:)
i love that church.
Great work.
Thanks Monique. It is indeed a beautiful church. I have painted it so often.
You paint in a so lovely way my house. Merci. J’aimerais acheter cette aquarelle est-ce possible ? Hélène du 11 St-Joachim
Bonjour Helene!
Another beauty!
Thanks!
If you have time check out the Pla de Palau and nearby Santa Maria del Mar (Ribera area), great from many angles!, have a great time in Barcelona!
Thanks. That is the area I will be staying in so I will be sure to check it out. Much appreciated.

Merci!
