Taking it on the road
Posted: November 20, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 15 CommentsIn part two of beta testing my Stillman & Birn Beta sketchbook, I took it on the road to try it out in my car studio. Once again it passed the test. I can pile on pigment and load up the washes, and the thick paper stays flat. I even tried some wet-in-wet on the distant trees. And the true test for watercolour: I can easily lift out areas that were too dark like in some of the far fence posts. So far so good with this book.

Excellent!!! You have done some great work in the “car studio” (which, if I recall correctly, is a phrase that I can take credit for).
Thanks Ross. From now I will write “from my car studioTM” and give you an attribution line somewhere, ok?
My solicitor’s advice is that your suggested acknowledgement is acceptable.
It looks like the sketchbook is working great, because your work is beautiful Shari.
Thanks so much. I do like the sketchbook!
Oh my! Sigh… This is sooo beautiful. It reminds me of a special spot I see from time to time — the fence, birdhouse, fields. Thank you for this enchanting sketch snd for the instructive update on the paper/sketchbook.
It’s not really that special a spot but sometimes the light at a certain time of day can make the place seem different somehow. Glad you like it.
your sketches are just lovely !!!
Thanks!
Really nice Shari! I like the shadows created by the fence.
That was the most fun part to paint Susan.
Beautiful sketch, I like the shadows from the fence.
Such a beautiful and dramatic painting!
Beautiful! Gorgeous shadows and light!
Very good !
