Pump room
Posted: March 31, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized 17 CommentsI guess that in the winter, under a bit of fresh snow and on a bright day, even the most mundane of structures can be seen in a different way. I walk past our neighbourhood pool almost every day. In summer these little buildings — one of which houses the pool pumps — are obscured by foliage, bikes, kids and lifeguards. In the winter, with a bit of snow and the right light, they had me imagining that I had driven out of town to an rural area and that the pump-room was suddenly a picturesque barn.

This is beautiful Shari! The color complements work so well with this. You can feel the crisp cold air!
Thanks Gail. It’s still cold out there. Tonight I saw skaters on a rink. That is usually unheard of at the end of March!
Ah, the artist’s eye.
Because I sketch every day I’m always on the lookout for things to sketch!
Lovely colors, but it certainly looks cold for the end of March:)
It’s still cold Vicky!!
Yummy! This really captures the light today. Is that a bit of wet in wet technique I detect?
It is only wet-in-wet technique that you detect! Nothing painted on dry paper.
oh please paint the skaters! : )
I had never thought of that. I wonder if they are still out there. It’s been warm the past couple of days.
Oh my! This is very lovely Shari — well done!
Thanks Jane!
Wow, that looks great. Love the soft (wet in wet) treatment of the trees in the background and the way the tree trunks in the foreground are “bleeding” into the buildings. Looks just like Lesson 7 in my “Learning to Watercolour” book… are you actually working through a “how to” book? Is that the secret of your success? : )
You must have the same book as me. That’s uncanny Ross!
I’m a bit embarrassed of course, that you discovered my secret. Let’s see if I do well on Lesson 8…
I am sure you will do well with Chapter 8… that is the one on self-portraits.
Oh, I guess it’s not the same book after all. My Chapter 8 is painting flowers!
Now that’s a shame… perhaps it is a chapter later in your book… I wait with anticipation. Anyway, this may help for when you get to that chapter…
