Urban Sketching Day at Stewart Hall

A big thanks to everyone at Stewart Hall who hosted our Urban Sketchers Day in the park, as well as the vernissage that followed. Over 80 sketchers spent the day (and the weather couldn’t have been better for us) drawing the building, the lake, the trees and each other. At the end of the day the sketches were hung in the gallery where they will remain on display for July and August. We’ve never had such a huge turnout for one of our events, and we even had visiting sketchers from Vermont, Toronto and Quebec City! If you’re in Montreal and you have a chance to visit the exhibit, it’s worth it to see the great variety of work that was produced during the course of a few short hours. Stewart Hall is located at 176 Lakeshore Road in Pointe Claire.

Your bark is awesome. I like the real detail on your focal point and the rest of the pix is looser. Love your style. I have enjoyed the on-line class very much. And like how you share your daily sketches thru email. THANK YOU!

    • Thanks so much for writing Billie. I’m so glad you like the class! As you can see, I do love drawing trees.

As a child, in the seventies, my best times were on the grassy hills and terraces of this magnificent building. I love this. I am an artist now. This has inspired me, this walk through the past. Hope to be able to share some art with you soon from Paisley, Ontario. Regards and Respect, Ann Fauchon

      • Thanks so much Ann. I didn’t grow up on the West Island so I am a late adopter to these grassy hills. What a gorgeous site. I spend a lot of time painting in this area. Nice to hear from you!

It was a nice day. I like the way you leave white space as part of you drawing.
You must have planed it as you progress you sketch.
