Ingredient list
Posted: November 14, 2017 Filed under: Uncategorized 36 CommentsWith not much to sketch outdoors (grey sky, grey light, grey trees), I came home from the grocery store with a small bouquet of colour to cook up. A simple recipe for my dinner: mostly Quinacridone Rose for the flowers (with a little Cobalt in the darkest parts and a touch of yellow too); Hansa Yellow and Phthalo Blue for the leaves (with a bit of Ultramarine to dull it down); and a blueish grey made from Cerulean for the background. Put it all together and shake it up. Sketched in a Handbook Journal, 9″ x 12″.
Alstroemerias always uplift my spirit, thanks for sharing your lovely flowers with us,

Beautiful. I love your use of colors – in all of your sketches and paintings. They are clear and vibrant, but harmonious and not overly bright.

A gorgeous painting. You have painted these flowers beautifully. Thank you for every and all teaching details that you provide with your work. I don’t know how you manage to produce so much wonderful art and still get the mundane chores of daily life done. How do you do it?

Hi Sue, Thanks for writing. As for how I get this done, where do I begin?
1. I have a wonderful husband and family who support me
2. Lots of stuff gets neglected in my house!
3. I make it a priority
4. I try to draw early in the day when I have more energy.
5. I try to be realistic about the amount of time I have and the size of sketch I do.
6. I carry a sketchbook with me at all times because you never know when you might have a few minutes to draw. Even a few minutes every day will improve your skills.

Thank you for the recipe..:) I love your bouquets..do you hang your art in your home?

Hi Monique,
I do hang my art but mostly I love to look at other people’s work so that is what is hanging on my walls. I have drawers and shelves full of my paintings but I would rather if they hung in other people’s houses.
