Freya on the boat
Posted: October 12, 2020 Filed under: Uncategorized 19 CommentsToday’s virtual life drawing was a little crazy. Our model, Freya, was posing on a boat, somewhere out on the ocean off the coast of Sao Tomé and Principe. She was also somewhat of a contortionist. So the experience was like trying to draw one of the acrobats from the Cirque du Soleil, AT THE SAME TIME AS going out on a sailboat on a windy day. A great challenge and probably one of the hardest life drawing sessions I have ever done. This was one my more successful attempts.
Here are the ones where I became completely lost in body parts.
You did a fabulous job. You certainly have artistic “sea legs” ( or hands). I got seasick just reading your post!
I was feeling a little wobbly myself at the end of this!! Thanks Denise!
I think you did great, Shari!
Thanks! Still recovering from the seasickness!!
These are great! A sailboat invites a bit of contortion. The curves and all. Great model.
Thanks Alison! She really was an amazing model, but I don’t know how she held those poses on the moving boat without getting sick. It was a real experience!
Good job, Shari, you found all the parts and put them in the right spots while rocking and rolling. Even attached in the correct places.
Getting those parts in the right place was not easy. Sometimes I would be drawing and wonder if it was a hip or a shoulder!!
Lovely sketch and great location, Shari. xo
Thanks so much!!
You did these beautifully! All that contortion and foreshortening, and rocking boat all made this really difficult.
Thanks Nel! How did you do??
I had a hard time finishing any one drawing, but I’ll finish at least one today to submit to Eleonore for next week’s gallery. Know what you mean about body parts! She was amazing.
She really was! Thanks again for the link!
How interesting! How long did Freya hold these poses? What a challenge to draw. A great learning experience
Donna, the poses were 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 20 minutes. I’m not quite sure how she holds these for so long but she was amazing! And yes, it was a great learning experience. A little frustrating, but in a good way!
Wow-like drawing a pretzel. Don’t know how you did it–and so well. Amazing sketches.
Is this a free online virtual draw from life? Would love to find something like this. 🙂
It’s not free but it’s not expensive. And as you can see, the models are amazing.
