The common thistle, and other wildflowers
Posted: February 25, 2021 Filed under: Uncategorized 16 CommentsThe snow continues to fall in Montreal, but today I took a little trip back to summer in Charlevoix. I sketched this page of wildflowers, on location in the garden of our hosts, surrounded by bees and the calls of chickadees. Back on that day in July we recorded a little video while I sketched the thistles. Have a look if you are in need of a few minutes of summer too.
I enjoyed the video. It helps me remember summer. And you look so happy.
Laura Kate, I think I was pretty happy to be in those surroundings! And rewatching it today gave me hope for spring which always seems so far away in February!

Thank you for sharing this. It reminds me of the thistle of my childhood. A beautiful, prickly weed. Like you, and so many, I am dreaming of spring and all it brings. I am delightfully enjoying your daily posts!

Thank you for the mini demo and glimpse of Summer! Thistles (& Poppies) are my favorite wildflowers to sketch. They grow wild on our lot & are a bit larger variety than yours. Love watching your brush work.
I just finished your workshop with Le Partage. EXCELLENT. I hope you make more DVD’s or downloads. With on line workshops I find it hard to remember the golden gems of information. Even if I take notes…I don’t have the visual. With DVD’s I can go back and watch again, and I am not tied to one computer, so can even bring them with me when we winter in Florida!
