Blue planter

There is a blue planter here, filled with bougainvilleas. The flowers are nice but the planter is really special. It’s tall and ultra-shiny with a deep blue glaze. To emphasize its beauty, I added more detail on the pot and less on the background, and used a combo of Ultramarine, Turquoise and Prussian Blue, AND I painted a little more slowly than I usually do so that I could capture all of the surface details.

Stunning, I could look at this all day! Great job (of course).

  2. The reflected light in that vase and the color in its shadow, and those blues! Breathtaking. Even if you hadn’t told us it was ultra shiny and deep blue, we would know! 😀

You’ve captured a tropical scene beautifully ! I love seeing all your greens as I’ve been “fighting a green forest” scenery this week.

That blue on the vase is beautiful. I think it’s the turquoise that makes it so pretty. Great painting!

All of these drawing you are doing in Turks are amazing!!! I’m intrigued by how you handle the background of the last two paintings. They seem to have a lot of detail but recede at the same time. Maybe a topic for a class😉. Love your work!!!

I want that planter – LOL!

    • Mary, the property is scattered with many of these in different shapes and sizes. I’m sure you would have wanted them all because they all have that shiny blue glaze.

  20. This is very beautiful! I can see all the nice details on the pot. Very lovely 😊

I love the pot! I have a smaller, deep cobalt blue pot on a stand on my porch. Which I knocked down. I was horrified at all the pieces and it was quarantine time so no opportunity to replace it. I spent a whole weekend with two tubes of E6000 glue and pieced that thing together. People have to look closely to realize it is 40+ pieces! Yourpainting made me realize I really need to PAINT some sketches of mine once I fill it with annuals in a couple months 🙂
