Paris in the heat
Posted: September 20, 2023 Filed under: Uncategorized 8 CommentsI had wonderful plans to sketch some iconic monuments when I arrived in Paris in late August — the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, perhaps I. M. Pei’s pyramid at the Louvre — but a late summer, record-breaking, red alert heatwave that descended on France dashed my hopes. The best I could do was make my way to some shade, and luckily the first place I found with trees and benches was in the Jardin du Carrousel, in front of the Louvre. The garden is filled with elegant bronze sculptures by Aristide Maillol, but the one I sketched — La Nuit — seemed like a perfect match for the day, the heat, and maybe even the dire predictions about this beautiful city in the face of global warming.

Merci Soni! Your French is fine!! As for the blog, you’re not the only one who can’t send comments. I don’t know what’s happened to WordPress lately. It used to be such a good platform. I also sometimes receive comments that have been cut off. It’s very frustrating for me and for people who read the posts!
