Sketchers find each other
Posted: July 6, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 29 CommentsI’m a little jet lagged after arriving in Barcelona this afternoon but I really wanted to see some of the Urban Sketchers Symposium locations, especially the one where my workshop will be. I found the tiny street of Santa Ana and was looking for the entrance to the church when I bumped into my Australian friend and fellow sketcher Liz Steel! How is that possible? In a city of 1.6 million people and what seems like just as many tourists, it seems unlikely. Now maybe it’s the jet lag that is making me go all sentimental but this was pretty cool.
I managed to get a quick sketch done in the cloister of the church, which is as beautiful and tranquil as described in the guidebooks. And now I’m off to try a few tapas before my eyes close. More sketches tomorrow!
Nice progression of darks in the cloisters!
Enjoy Barcelona and have a wonderful workshop.
Merci Nathalie!
I am jealous of your about-to-be students. But happy for them as well, because they will have a great experience.
Thanks for your vote of confidence Lee!
Have fun.. what an adventure..It’s a small world after all isn’t it?:)
It certainly is!
have a great time in Barcelona and please report often! Can’t wait to see your sketches 🙂
Small world, indeed!! Wished, I could be there, too!! Great sketch done with jet-lag!!
I’m excited for you all! I’ll be following along via your sketches!
Thanks Jen. There will be lots to report when we get back!
I just found this blog, and… I love your art! What you consider to be your sketches, I would consider masterpieces! Thanks for sharing your work. 😀
Thank you so much for your generous comments. I’m glad you found the site!
Have a great time, really looking forward to your sketches and reports.
Thanks so much Don. Barcelona is quite a city from what I’ve seen so far. I’m going to do a little sightseeing before the craziness starts.
What a nice sketch!, and being so tired…! With just the three colors of the workshop?, I shall try them. Hope you have a great time Shari!!
Carola
Thanks Carola. Yes, I was so tired yesterday I forgot to mention that I was just using the three colours for my workshop.
That’s so wonderful! I can’t wait for the workshop on saturday. it’s going to be a crazy week: on wednesday morning i’m presenting my final project for my B.F.A studies, and at noon I’m flying to Barcelona. I worked allot with scanning and photoshop and grown so tired of it by now, I can’t wait to go back to paper and watercolors. the triad colours and pallete are ready, looking forward to meet you!
That sounds like a crazy week! I wish you the best of luck finishing your studies. From what I have seen already, Barcelona is an amazing city. So beautiful and so much to draw. We are going to have a great time in the workshop! Safe travels and looking forward to meeting you!
Have a great time Shari in Barcelona — they will love you and keep us posted as to what is happening over there 😉
Thanks Jane. I will try to post every day despite the crazy schedule.
Oh boy! Barcelona sketches! 🙂 Can’t wait to read about your trip.
Thanks Mrs. P. I hope to keep posting.
Even if it’s done when you get back…it will still be interesting. Enjoy the moment and the opportunity!
