A frame within a frame

I love working within a small frame on a bigger sheet. It allows me to see the composition much more effectively than if I cover the whole page with the drawing. And if I had another hour today I probably would have done a few more of these clementine compositions just to see how many variations on a theme I could come up with. It’s an interesting exercise when you have a few minutes.

A great tip! I have a couple of pears I’ve been sketching (though 3 would be better) and will try what you suggest. These clementines are beautifully rendered. Once again, you convey the character of the fruit so well.

Framing in the sketchbook is a great aid, too.
