Go west
Posted: April 21, 2015 Filed under: Uncategorized 24 CommentsIt was raining quite hard when I left to paint today. I momentarily contemplated staying home and painting in the studio, but the pull of the outdoors, of looking at the clouds, of capturing some of the soft spring colours was too strong. When I looked towards the west, there seemed to be a break in the cloud cover, a slight lightening towards the horizon, so I pointed my car in that direction, hoping to find an open field of some sort, maybe with a structure on it. On a road near Hudson, I found what I was looking for. Painted on Arches 140 lb cold pressed paper, 15″ x 11″.
We have loads of open fields..come back often..love this..
I will definitely come back your way soon Monique. I loved the views on that road. I guess you know where this is, right?
So many places here and surroundings look like this:)
You inspire me:)))
You are very sweet. Wish I could get out to paint some of your landscapes this year.
It gives me so much pleasure to see your special style.
I wish I could do that. I yearn to learn that.
I like that you show us that there’s something, everyday, out there o sketch/paint.
Thank you Shari for being so inspirational.
Thank you, Janice, for writing. And just so you know, I sometimes drive around and find nothing to sketch… Some days are just duds for sketchers.
I love this one!!
Thanks Ineke!
Really gorgeous. I always enjoy your work.
Thanks so much. I enjoy posting and reading comments…
Just beautiful, Shari. You make it look so effortless, yet you come back with an awesome painting once again! I can’t get enough of that sky-love it!
Thanks so much Linda.Skies are one of my favourite things to paint.
The composition is so simple yet effective, the dark cloud just above the barn keeps the eye in the picture beautifully. When you go to Montebello do you want me to give you locations of some stunning barns in fields?
Jane, I think I may have a spot for you in the workshop. I will email you. I would love for you to show me where the stunning barns are.
Barn nice and soft against an interesting sky. I wonder about the darks in the foreground, though. Perhaps a bit distracting? ??
That’s funny Mike. The foreground is my favourite part. I had a lot of fun putting in those dirt piles.
😀
Wow !!!!. Wath a beautifull old barn. I point barn. Where did you fuund this one.. I would like to go and sketch it or point it.
I like you rock field defenition. Great.
Thanks Andre. This barn is on the road to Hudson. Not the main road but the one that goes along the water from Vaudreuil. Not too far off the Highway 40 exit.
I keep coming back to look at this again, it is simple, yet appealing to the eye. Thank you Shari.
gorgeous colors and lights!!!
I am happy you ventured out of doors…..
Me too!
