Last day
Posted: October 20, 2017 Filed under: Uncategorized 23 CommentsThe big yellow crane has arrived at the Pointe Claire Yacht club, and that means the sailboats come out of the water for the season tomorrow. I thought I’d spend an hour or so drawing them before they disappear. It’s a warm and fairly calm day, and as I painted I witnessed one boat after another go out for one last perfect sail on the lake. Can’t say I blame them. Sketched in a Handbook Journal, 8″ x 8″.

Thanks Heather.
Your paintings always make me smile.
And it makes me happy to read this Sue!
Luminous!
Many thanks Leslie!
yes, your paintings are a joy.
i am curious what blues did you use for this painting?
Ah, thanks Holly. I used some Cerulean and I think some Indigo too for this. The blues are a little different than what I usually do.
They worked well.
A touch of melancholy – very beautiful!
So my sadness came through in this, Sigrun. Excellent observation.
Oh my, work is simply beautiful! I’m so glad you share with us.
Thanks Bernadette.
Another lovely painting with boats and water. You do these so well. One question-the lines -pen or a brush?
Judy, the lines for this one are in pen. I used my Platinum Carbon pen first and added colour later.
Thanks. I have that pen-bought it after one of your classes, I think. But I never got used to it. Think I will now try it.
Beautiful painting bringsback memories of when my husband & I had a sail boat sailing around the florida keys. happy sketching
Thanks so much!
Don’t be melancholy, you’ll have a beautiful picture to give you happy thoughts until that crane puts those sailboats right back where they belong 🙂
It is always sad to see the boats come out of the water. Up here they shrink wrap them in white plastic that is so lacking in character. You captured a beautiful look to the day!
Always wonderful
