Posted: May 18, 2020 Filed under: Uncategorized 18 CommentsIt’s finally warm enough to sit outside to sketch in my garden, but there’s not much to sketch yet. Some Allium reaching up to the sun. A lonely white daffodil, looking longingly for its companion — a purple tulip which was recently decapitated by a squirrel. With the absence of natural elements, I resorted to the old standbys — a trash can with garden waste and a broken brick on the deck. It’s just the start of garden sketching season, and with no plans for travel this summer, be warned, there will be a lot of it.
Stuff around the house by you is still very inspirational! It’s neat to see how you do everyday things. Thank you for sharing

You definitely make garbage cans look exciting! I like how it seems to be sitting on a plaid tablecloth.

Thanks Alison. There are a few more tulips in the front of the house, but they were in shade and the lonely daffodil was in sun. And these days I just gravitate to where the sun is.

The decapitation was a powerful word picture.
That’s how it felt when I saw all the petals scattered on the ground and the stem swaying in the wind!

everything in this world can be a subject to poetry or prose, even a match stick, tooth pick, a soap piece or puppy.
And like him for you anything can be a subject for your art.

Nice plants, I did a watercolour of my Rhodedondron on Sunday. It really came together good and was one of my first attempts at a full sized plien air watercolour.
Dear Shari, You’ve been one of the influential artists I’ve followed/admired which includes Steward White, Ray Henderson, Charles Reid. You even got me to buy an iPad-Pro. Like myself, I have grown children where my daughter is 60 and a son who is 55, By the way I served with Canadian troops in Korea many, many years ago. I love the smarts for you as an artist in an art world that has turned upside down not only by the digital revolution made more challenging by the pandemic. Getting free of the college bit has made more better use for your creativity. I’ve done great amount of illustrations over the years for a number of ad agencies and greeting cards that has now all gone by th wayside. No matter where I’m doing well asasidewalk artist.doing low cost originals for cash which adds up nicely over time. I gave up driving where I live in an apartment complex where transportation is just outside the door.
