An online show starting today

In pre-pandemic times, it was always so much fun to participate — in person — in the Lakeshore Artists Spring Show at Fritz Farm. But like many art groups these days, we’ve had to create a virtual event this year. I’ll miss the experience of being at the show and talking to visitors, but there’s an advantage to the online platform. Instead of a two-day exhibit, the show is on for a full month (May 1-31, 2021), so you really get to peruse the work (from 40 artists!) on your own time.

I’m always especially happy to be a part of this show because 1/3 of all proceeds from sales goes to NOVA West Island — a truly amazing organization that has helped so many families, including my own, in the West Island. If you want to read a bit more about the 32-year collaboration between NOVA and the LAA, have a look at the article in today’s Montreal Gazette. Here’s a link to the full show, and to my gallery, which is also displayed below. If you need more info, or are interested in purchasing a painting, just drop me a line in my contact form here.

I assume Silver Creek is in Canada. However, near the White Mountains of Arizona we have a Silver Creek that looks just like your painting including the mountains in the background.

    • Hi George. It is actually Silver Creek Preserve in Idaho. I was teaching there a few years ago and everyone told us to go see that spot. We arrived at the end of the day. Quite spectacular! That is where Hemingway fished!

    • Thanks so much Jeff. There are few opportunities to display stuff these days. I paint and paint and my drawers fill up with work. So even an online show is welcome…

Hi Shari! Love your paintings, as always! Good luck with the show!
I noticed you have a lot of full sheet paintings in this show. What kinds of brushes do you like for working with larger paper?
Curious because I’ve been dabbling with larger formats lately. You always have great advice and ideas.
Speaking of your great ideas: I just received my new Cup Palette, found an adapter on Amazon, to connect it to my old tripod, and am ready to do some painting! Thanks for the recommendation!

    • HI Margaret. It’s so great to hear from you. Thanks for having a look at the paintings. When I am working on big sheets I use big brushes. I love my 1” flat and I also have a new Rosemary round #12. Plus I use a big Casaneo squirrel mop from Da Vinci. I can do almost everything with those three. And so happy to hear that you have the Cup Easel. Isn’t it a wonderfully designed object? I think you will love working on it. Take care and happy painting!

Thanks taking time to answer my question, I appreciate it, and yes! I love my new Cup Palette! Can’t wait to give it a “test-drive” this summer. I’ll check out those brushes. I have the Casaneo mop brush, though. Thanks, once again!

Beautiful pieces Shari. I just adore your use of color, it is so vibrant and clean. Really eye-catching! Wishing you luck at the show, but in my opinion you won’t need it; your collection is an absolute standout! And thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge. You’re an inspiration.

    • Thanks for having a look Mary. I do love taking part in this group show every year but I miss seeing people in person — both my fellow artists and the people who come in to see the show. The venue is right on the lakeshore in a gorgeous spot and we usually spend some time outside if the weather is good. Hopefully next year we will be back out there!
